Job purpose:
  • The Foundations Installation Manager is a critical role within the Offshore Business focussing on the delivery of Foundation Installation in Saint Brieuc project, working with Multinational Joint Venture Partner(s) and Contractors ensuring that position is suitably protected at any agreements.
  • The Foundation Installation Manager will be responsible for defining installation strategies and plans, tendering, negotiating and managing small-scale offshore installation contracts, planning and implementing installation and logistics, including management of offshore contractors and associated interfaces, ensuring quality, best practices and excellent H&SE performance are applied.
  • The individual will be working as part of a global business with activities in many countries across Europe. The position may require frequent travel to various locations in Europe and during development, contracting and delivery of small-scale installation. The individual should be prepared to manage teams working at different project locations.

  • Main duty of this role for the job holder is to be directly responsible for the Foundation Installation Tender with the Installation and Logistic Lead and also act as a deputy of the Installation and Logistic Lead.
  • Delivery of small-scale installation projects with a number of interfaces and coordination to manage.
  • Ensure installation is delivered on time, to budget and quality following the highest industry practice and observing the maximum respect for Health, Safety and Environment.
  • Implement offshore standards, procedures, tools, best practices and quality requirements.
  • Ensure the delivery of installation works is appropriate and consistent the specification, budget and timetable without compromising safety.
  • Define, implement and resource the appropriate organisational structure for managing installation works.
  • Prepare installation for the execution phase including contracting offshore equipment, delivery companies, onshore facilities, harbours, consultants, H&SE and quality plans, etc...
  • Provide key and strategic advice, assessment and recommendations to the business giving input and support to the projects throughout the whole life cycle (development to decommissioning)
  • Provide input on appropriate bid levels / programme strategies / commercial strategies / commercial agreements relative to projects. Provide key input in the preparation of investment dossiers for all funding requests for projects.
  • Work with the HSE team to develop HSE strategy for installation works and ensure a high standard of health and safety awareness is maintained.

  • Coordination of installation works is a key activity in offshore projects, where CAPEX is higher than 2 million euros per MW, resulting in total budgets around several billion euros.
  • Offshore industry is still relatively immature, and a key focus is on driving down cost. The project support dept. will play a large part in developing initiatives to reduce the cost of engineering, delivery and contracting.
  • British, Spanish, French, US and German team members, different cultures to incorporate in the projects (large packages).

Required profile

Skills knowledge and experience:
  • Some in Foundation installation management (monopiles, jackets...) experience in the delivery of installation projects through the pre-delivery, delivery and operation transition phases.
  • Knowledge on WTG Installation is desirable due to as a deputy he/she must be part of the WTG Installation Package
  • Some experience in leading teams involved in installation.
  • Ability to manage people effectively to deliver required outputs in a timely manner.
  • Competent in future planning.
  • Some experience in offshore windfarm, marine works or oil and gas delivery and marine operations.
  • Some experience in leading tendering processes, contract negotiations and detailed commercial delivery contracts.
  • Some experience with managing insurance marine warranty surveyors.
  • Some experience in dealing with health and safety and environmental legislation associated with offshore installation, marine and offshore projects.
  • Competent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to influence and develop key project and business decisions.
  • Competent report writing, presentation skills and ability to summarize key parameters and drivers impacting the project and business.
  • Ability to work, manage teams and manage decision making process under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Competent planning and analysis skills.
  • Ability to manage change and experience of leading others through change.
  • Contribute (or ensure resources are available) to early development projects, giving advice to development teams on build ability / delivery issues.
  • Organise and manage teams for the delivery of installation works.
  • Ability to manage teams in JVs at multiple international and sites.
  • Advice on the impact of technical/specialist risks and issues and the viability of solutions recommended.
  • Balance technical detail with commercial needs and provide recommendations, taking into account all relevant risks.
  • Ensure that all recommendations are documented and sufficient due diligence exists to support decisions (whether internal or external diligence).
  • Develop and apply knowledge of European/local country maritime legislation.
  • Manage marine interfaces between projects - industry standards.
  • Manage co-ordination of marine interests of development-construction-operations, particularly monitoring/feedback.
  • Understands maritime legislation and régulations.

  • Advice on the impact of technical and consenting issues, analysing related risks and the viability of solutions recommended.

Special requirements & personal qualities:
  • Some experience of contracting, engineering design and delivery.
  • Some experience of offshore sector.
  • Some track records in delivering installation.
  • Knowledge and experience of engineering contracts.
  • Health and safety management skills.

Minimum criteria (mandatory) :
  • Degree and professional qualification in relevant engineering discipline -
  • Mechanical/Electrical/Marine Engineering or Naval Architectural.
  • Postgraduate experience in industry with significant experience in Offshore Wind.
  • IT literate with the ability to operate MS Office systems and other IT based project management software.
  • Flexible to travel around Europe.
  • Travel regularly to attend meetings and work at different project sites in a number of countries thought northern Europe, particularly Germany, France, Spain and UK.
  • Relevant experience in offshore delivery planning and set up.
  • Knowledge of health, safety and environmental legislation associated with offshore/marine installation.
  • Knowledge of offshore procedures, standards and guides.
  • Experience in managing high skilled teams.
  • IT literate with the ability to operate MS Office systems and other IT based project management software.
